“At his core, Banhart is an urban aesthete, an art-school kid and street skater influenced by the Incredible String Band, Tropicália and the Fugs.” —Rolling Stone

Join us for a two-evening exploration of the musical worlds of singer/songwriter/painter Devendra Banhart. An acknowledged leader of the acid-folk/indie-rock movement, he is revered for his idiosyncratic career of defying expectations and inspiring musical trends.

Program A: Friday, May 13
Banhart performs a solo set of songs drawn from his 11 albums, followed by music from interactive experimenters Lucky Dragons, Jessica Pratt, Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange), William Basinski (Disintegration Loops) and others.

Program B: Saturday, May 14
The second night opens with Banhart’s full touring band, followed by Brazilian singer/songwriter Rodrigo Amarante (Los Hermanos, Orchestral Imperial), LA art-pop duo Hecuba, and a rare appearance by iconic ambient/minimal music pioneer Harold Budd.

Due to short-term damage to his voice acquired during a recent extended solo Europe tour, Michael Gira will not be performing on Saturday May 14. Sorry for any inconvenience.
